ILYMUN 2026 is here! We’re officially back for the 13th edition of the annual ILYMUN conference, where delegates from all over France will be debating on this year’s new theme: Justice in Motion: Building Trust, Protecting Rights.

As we return to last year’s familiar location, the Hôtel de Région Montrochet, on the 12th, 13th, and 14th of March 2026, we are all excited and looking forward to yet another memorable ILYMUN experience.

After last year’s focus on democracy and security, it is important to discuss justice and how it is an essential foundation to all democracies, especially in today’s world. Delegates will focus on this topic in 13 different committees, exploring issues such as climate reparations, transnational organized crime, equitable healthcare, justice for women, and many more.

In a world that is stained by ever increasing global conflicts, ILYMUN has become a key local platform that gives young minds a strong enrichment experience, allowing them to learn how the systems of the United Nations deal with global conflicts through diplomatic debate. One of the most interesting things about ILYMUN is that it is almost completely student-organized and this article discusses the current tasks and goals of the organization team.

The organizing team is working hard and is constantly finding ways to bring the event to its full potential. We have every aspect of the conference taken care of by students from both the International School of Lyon and the Cité Scolaire Internationale, from logistics to press, chairs to housing, and of course, with the Secretaries General, tying the entire process together by managing the team.

Uma explained that she and her co-heads of housing are contacting youth hostels and organizing the pick up and drop off of students from participating schools, while Constantin and Weizhen, heads of audiovisual press, have been working on the “Meet the Organizing Team” video and the trailer for ILYMUN 2026 to obtain more visibility for the event. Ruby and Lili, heads of chairs from CSI, told us that they have been editing their chairs’ research reports as well as writing their own, and organizing monthly meetings to train their chairs before ILYMUN starts. Paul, one of the Secretaries General from CSI, said their job began in June with the selection of the Organizing Team, the choice of this year’s theme and committees, and preparations for Training Day. “We’re optimistic that we can build on last year’s success to make this conference even better,” he added.

As for the heads of logistics, Piotr informed us that they are currently working on deciding on the room allocations and the delegations present at each committee. Florence, one of the heads of social events from ISL, told us that “as heads of social, we’ve been working to create an engaging and enjoyable experience for all delegates. We organised icebreakers for the MUN training day and are currently planning exciting social events, including the party, silent disco, and photo booth, to make the conference as memorable as possible.”

Stay tuned as we prepare for ILYMUN 2026! We hope to see you there!
